Before I got hooked, I was looking for a space where I can collect snippets of my life any time or any where I go.
I really love capturing moments – whether I’m at home or traveling, eating my favorite food, watching my boys sleep or waiting for the sunrise… you’ll always find me reaching out for my phone and taking photos.
Since I’m not really into writing or public speaking ( let’s just say I prefer fewer words and jittery moments 🙂 ), I turn to photos to tell my stories. With Instagram, it allows me to do that. Instagram (IG) is so easy to use! It’s also visually appealing, engaging and surprisingly interesting.
I realized I have a knack for taking beautiful pictures, when I started getting 1-2-3…and more likes from my first few IG photos. So I told myself, I have to share this gift He has given me.
MY INSTAGRAM STORY
It was only a year and a half ago that I joined Instagram. And my first photo was a flower. Yup, a simple flower. But together with it is a meaningful caption that says – “My morning surprise”… this was my first story.
Usually, the photos I share in my feed are carefully crafted. I prefer to show mostly photos of what I believe in, and those that I find real and meaningful. My audience doesn’t always know every detail about my life – I like it better that way. I also leave a little room for imagination so that people can connect more when looking at my photos.
Should a photo be always positive & happy?
Well, not necessarily. If you ask me, “realness” matters more. Try taking images that are not just beautiful, but say something about you. Being real is what connects you to your audience.
What’s nice about IG is you develop a better appreciation of the simple things, ordinary moments and everything around you. It allows you as well to explore and try something new to come up with interesting photos.
One of the things you’ll also love about Instagram is the wonderful people you can meet. IG allows you to create connections with engaging people who are genuinely interested on your feed. When you post purposefully, you’ll find people or even communities that share similar interests, ideas & beliefs.
Before I forget, did I mention #makeitblissful community is one of my favorites? – click here to see how inspiring and wonderful the community is.
If you try to interact and put comments, you’ll notice that your connections will eventually lead to friendships, partnerships or even collaborations. That makes IG exciting!
Recently, I had my first blog collaboration with Soul Kitchen Co. where I took over SKCo ‘s Instagram account for a week. And it all started with just a simple following & chat in IG. I never thought that my story can make a difference…big time!
Since then, I’ve been blessed abundantly. And now, I’d also like to share this blessing with you.
I’m not an expert in Instagram, but let me share what I know about capturing beautiful pictures …
HOW TO TAKE BEAUTIFUL PICTURES IN INSTAGRAM
- Capture moments and emotions to bring out the “realness” of your story.
- Bend, squat or move to get closer to your subject and get the details you want.
- Shoot in natural light. 100% it works all the time.
- Bring the colors out to convey the mood or emotion of your photo.
- Use the space for a simpler and cleaner look.
- Shoot multiple times. Try different angles, be cautious of shadows and take note of clarity.
- Use the” square” feature of the phone camera. It will save you time from cropping.
- Shoot everyday! That’s how you will get better.
No matter what your intentions are in using Instagram- whether you’d like to share, document or inspire, remember how powerful images can be. Use your story to make a difference.
Have fun Instagraming!
Enjoy the Fun And Beautiful Friday!
