Who wouldn’t love little surprises in pretty packages? Especially when it’s something elegant, hand-made and proudly Philippine product.
Thank you Humabi bags for this beautiful happiness bag. The color and style go perfectly well with a simple chic dress or my favorite white t-shirt and a pair of jeans.
Humabi (a Tagalog term for weave) bags are made from ordinary plastic straw ropes which are intricately woven by the women of Davao City correctional institution. Each bag is unique and has its own story to tell. You’ll fall in love with this bag even more if I tell you that owning one means you not only provide livelihood to the women weavers, but also help send a child to school.
When I had the opportunity to chat with Erika Mata, the owner of Humabi bags, I felt how passionate she was in helping raise funds to give a brighter future to the young with brilliant minds. Her story moved me – from the day the Lord guided her to fulfill this dream to the moment she was able to turn the ordinary to something beautiful. With all the blessings that Humabi is receiving, Erika gives all the glory back to Him.
I’ve always been vocal in my support of locally made products – especially when it is produced by a social entrepreneur. Because I know that every piece I buy is a labor of love and an opportunity to give back.
‘Will you help support these kinds of entrepreneurs too?
